Week 7: Composition

Hello dear readers, how have you all been? I hope that you’re doing well.

Have you ever participated in an art challenge on Instagram? I’ve gotten the chance to a few times now. This blog will be about my first time participating in one. I wanted to take advantage of the art challenge but also practice doing composition since this was the next subject on my list.

My Personal Art Curriculum:

This art challenge took place in September of 2022 and was called ‘Sweetembers’ it had an autumn theme to it. I used the themes provided and I also used a couple of characters that I have made. These characters are based on past pets; my cat and my husband’s dog. We loved them both dearly and still remember them fondly. In a way, I wanted to honor their memory by illustrating them as cute little characters. (I’m getting on a tangent now so I will discuss more about this on another blog.)

Anyway, I wanted to practice my composition skills. I feel like my compositions all ended up being quite similar, because I only made the characters as the main focus. It ended up looking a bit boring to me. I kind of wished that I moved them around on the page a bit more, but they still did look cute. I know that I need to come back to this art practice because I definitely need to learn to create different types of composition. At the end of the day, it was a good first try.

I made a video that goes more into depth about this particular art challenge. You can check out my video here:
